  1. You can dismiss the efficacy of this hearing, and the politicians that participated (from the CONSERVATIVES) trying to make this a failing of the Federal Liberal Party (which it is not),….but what this hearing DID do was expose publicly the bull that is going on. Public uproar is the only thing that will hold the slimers at CSB and One Soccer accountable. So for that, the hearings have helped. As far as 'AIRING OUR DIRTY LAUNDRY', that's yours, Mr Wheelbarrow. Air away!!!

  2. Gareth, the IMG deal allowed CSA to separately earn big money from sale of Central American tv rights from gold cups, Olympic and World Cup qualifying. Overall on a 4 year cycle basis there is not a lot of difference between total revenues generated under CSB compared to prior situation. CSB deal should have allowed for annual bonuses based on media pro exceeding certain revenue thresholds, thus allowing Canada soccer to at least get some benefit from national teams exceeding expectations.

  3. Wheeler is correct again: go out and win matches and titles and raise your profile. Then more fans will fill stadiums to watch Canada and with that will come more corporate sponsorship and more advertising revenue. Then guess what, incomes will rise. This generation is spoiled to think that everything just grows on trees. Big European federations can pay a lot because they are wealthy federations. It is simple economics that no one has taught a child in two generations in this country.

  4. Andi I think you're great but please explain to me how equal pay comes into this? Do the men and women play on the same team in the same competitions? Stop this widespread grift as it will only hurt, not help soccer in Canada. Go woke, go broke is becoming a natural law alongside gravity ? Having said that, I think the women should get equal access to facilities, quality training staff and reasonable travel perks – that much Canada Soccer can afford. But salary I'm afraid doesn't add up…

  5. A Canadian professional Women's soccer league is a pipe dream. I'm not even sure the men's CPL can survive. The women have to stop trying to suck precious funding away from the men. Stick to the Olympics. Wheeler is correct that money must go towards infrastructure and youth development, not funding woke ideology… Having said that, the CSL needs to raise its game by getting more corporate sponsorship. Just stop trying to make it all about women's soccer as it is a very minor attraction here in Canada. If the women keep this up, they will kill the men's game in Canada, and by doing so, will bake their own fate as Women's soccer rides on the coat tails of men's soccer world wide.

  6. While woke politics take center stage, there will be no good solution simply because Canadian soccer doesn't bring in enough revenue to pay women what they can't generate from their own game. Remove the CanWNT from the discussions and I think a reasonable compromise would be quickly found.

  7. to add i really am not too fussed about compensation within reason ( which some govt ppl were staking out) it is more a lack of mgmt performance and a real sense of lack of accountability with actionable plans ( oh the "its not me" position) …that took a govt hearing to finally drag these CS/CSB ppl out into the open. Really an embarrassment. CS needs to reorg and be much better going forward and sponsors should use this to step up.

  8. If it was going to be resolved it would have been. I think the govt action was to raise the profile put the heat on and highlight the lack of transparency which it did. 2 years of nonsense is not acceptable and a black eye on the sport. Dont blame the govt!!.. Would not have been needed if there was proper CS leadership. It is disgraceful CS did not bring in a 3rd party arbitrator. If it was the post office a force arbitration would be done in 1-2 weeks. You guys need to stop minimizing/propping up CS/CSB for their role in mgmt failure. They need to own their role and get back to solutions.

  9. With due respect you are missing the point. Canada Soccer is an embarrassment in the way they have dealt with the players. There wouldn’t have been a need for this government committee if the CSA had been more professional.
