  1. Soccer is incredibly difficult. Even just on the technical side of the game, the pros make it look ridiculously easy for the average American. Throw in the tactical component, the physical shape you need to be in, the decision-making ability, and the mental side of the game…it’s mind blowing

  2. man this guy joe rogan is a bum. he said soccer sucks and there is no talent needed. these guys are bums talking about some sports need no talent and never even been a professional athlete. just pathetic. hes just a bum making money off of us, take care of your families

  3. At the 2022 World Cup, players usually covered around 10km of distance per match, and a new record was set at 16.7km. So yeah, it's extremely physically demanding, especially considering that they aren't marathon runners that just run for hours at a certain speed. It's run, stop, run, stop for an hour and a half or sometimes two hours. That means your heart constantly has to readjust the amount of blood it needs to push into your muscles and brain. Your cardio needs to be through the roof.

  4. They really are in amazing shape! Also, not to take anything away from Basketball or NFL players – they're amazing athletes. But you use your hands for everything all the time – varied tasks that helps your fine motor skills become very precise.

You don't really use your feet for much else in life other than balancing/walking/running. So when you're all of a sudden supposed to control, juggle, pass, dribble, shoot a ball with your feet and be aware of your surroundings, making split-second decisions while running at the same time? That takes A LOT of hours to get comfortable with.

  5. Also, in Soccer, there isn’t really an off season in the top European leagues.

Technically, yeah, the season ends in May and begins in August for most, but if the European Championships are on or the World Cup, you finish around May 15th, you immediately go join your National Team, you play 2/3 Friendly(Exhibition) games as a tune up, then it’s the competition and you’re playing every 4 days for 4 weeks, now it’s July and you need to go into pre-season training with your club. You might get 2 weeks to have a holiday if you’re lucky but no more because the season starts again around 10th August in England for example, so you need to maximise training again. It’s insane

  6. Soccer may not have commercials, but it has ads everywhere. The panels on the fields are constantly rotating ads. The players themselves are walking billboards, and they have ads before during and after the game.

  7. imagine rugby! it's even harder because it's the same pitch lenght, nearly the same amount of time, you run the same distance ( between 6 and 10km ), but what is more you take hard hits all along the match ! beleive me I play both sports and rugby kills you more ! compared to that basketball is for pussies haha

  8. I’m glad Joe Rohan have Football “Soccer” the proper respect it deserves especially the physical demands of professional athletes that play the sport of soccer. NFL American football is much more physically grueling but doesn’t have the endurance element of soccer, while basketball has a combination of both strength, endurance the amount of commercialization in NFL/NBA is much more extensive than soccer.
